Get ready for the ultimate BBQ experience!
We're bringing world class BBQ classes to Newfoundland and Labrador and very excited to welcome the Canadian Cajun, the Picana King of the North - the legendary Mel Chmilar Jr. of Dark Side of the Grill fame!
While Mel's from Edmonton, he's spent his recent years cooking around the globe to the delight of thousands of rabid BBQ fans. This past summer he came to Deer Lake and put off BBQ classes for 100+ BBQ enthusiasts and now he's returning to teach us a few new BBQ tricks.
About The Class
During this class you will learn about smoking and grilling using charcoal, pellets and live fire.
We will be sharing tips for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and presenting pork, chicken, beef, and seafood.
There will appetizers ready when you arrive and we will be eating everything we cook so come hungry.
There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and get up close and personal.
Bottled water will be provided and there will be other beverages available for purchase.
Who is this for
This class is suitable for all skill levels from brand new to the smoking game, back yard pitmasters, and competition BBQers. You can come just for the delicious BBQ food or come ready to ask questions and learn from Mel.
When and Where
This year we're hosting two BBQ classes. The first one will be in St. John's on Saturday, June 21st and the second one will be in Deer Lake on Wednesday June 25th. We are using Eventbrite to help us manage these events and have created easy links for you to find out more information and to purchase tickets. Spokesman for Alberta Beef, the Canadian beef association and heartbeat Hotsauce. he’s also on the Pro cook team for Big Green Egg and a full time caterer/event host up in Alberta. Teaching in person classes and workshops this fire master has seen and cooked it all on a grill, in a smoker or over the Live fire!
